I have found a source for providing lower footrest positions for our chosen machine and have bought a set and fitted them.
I know that some owners find them too high for their passengers because they have long legs. In my case my vertically challenged partner finds them very high when trying to get on the bike.
Anyway, they are well made fully engineered and nicely finished. Although in theory they adjust around 10 positions, on the NT1100, 3 of these cannot be accessed on the right hand side because of the silencer heatshield. But the lowest position that can be used on that side is a full 10cm lower than standard.
If you look on the website there is an animated video showing how they work. They are easy to fit (mostly) and even include replacement split pins.
They are available through Ebay as the German company does not have a UK Vat account, so all in including carriage they cost 146.00 Euros.
The company also make an interesting range of other CNC engineered products for different bikes. Worth a look!
