Well guys n gals, sorry to say but thats me done with the NT, after testing the bike the dealer confirmed there wasn't a problem with it as thats how they ride, I considered it to be very poor slow riding and didnt accept any oil usage was normal so I traded it back in favour of a 2021 VFR800 v tech that rode like a dream and had just 1000 miles on it with full Honda luggage. Yes I will have lost money but if it doesnt feel right it has to go !

    Hiya 131 commando

Sorry to hear you have jumped ship......Obviously the NT is not for everyone......

I have owned numerous twins over the years and thay have all used oil....especially Boxers.

I really don't see the problem with checking and topping up the oil level every 1000 miles or so.

As for the rough slow speed running...the NT is an 1100cc twin with a 270 degree throw, it does need to be revved to get those big pistons spinning.

It will never run smooth like an inline 4 or a v 4 like the viffer.......

Keep safe and enjoy your VFR

My NT DCT came today from the dealership, to change oil and filters (12000 km)… it did not drink a drop of oil… I am so happy 😜

    Hello.

Today I went to check the oil level on the motorcycle and the dipstick did not show any oil.
I immediately went to my Honda Dealership and sure enough, they told me that it was missing 400cc of oil. And I don't understand if they only added those "cc" why didn't I see any mark on the dipstick? They couldn't explain it to me and only told me that this motorcycle and its sister, the Africa Twin, consume "a little" oil and that I have to check it approximately every 1000 km. We will continue to monitor consumption.

Note: My bike has 3600 Km now.

My NT has now 21.000 km, and made on the last 3 weeks, a 11.300 km trip… did not consume a drop of oil, and I only check twice on the trip… maybe I am lucky, but I can not understand engines that need to check oil every 1000 km. After all, the changes are made every 12.000 km…

I do not understand it either.

On YouTube there are Africa Twin owners with consumption similar to those of the NT. It's my consolation.

My NT was using oil regularly up until 10,000 miles/16,000 km.

The engine has now appeared to settle down but I will continue to check the oil level monthly.

    Hello.

After 1500 km more since my last message about the lack of oil, I must say that the level has not dropped at all since the dealer refilled my engine with oil. Talking to a friend who has another Honda, he told me that they always run short on the oil level at my dealership and I don't know if that's good or bad. The fact is that my motorcycle seems to not consume oil. I will continue to inform.
    All the best.
