All packed and ready for five days touring Scotland from tomorrow. Weather looks brilliant.
Time to test its touring credentials.

    Happy days.

We'll be swanning across Scotland and the Highlands (Gretna, Glasgow, Fort William, Inverness, Wick and Edinburgh) next Saturday.

    Enjoy/

1200 miles average 58mpg over all. Some days mpg was 63/4.
    Very happy with those numbers.

I got caught up in the oncoming with the Gumball 3000 Rally on Sunday between Ripley and Ripon. Sunday was the first (Edinburgh to London) leg with a lunchtime check point at Ripley Castle.

    Hi Kyronix,
Sounds like you're having a great time.
If you're heading towards the west coast, don't forget about the midges!

Thanks for the reminder, but we are well and truly prepared, I have three different types of midge spray antihistamines and steroid cream for if they do get me  :008:

I stayed in the Weigh Inn at Thurso. Had a great room at the front looking out to Orkney. But the food there ..... the least said the better. Lets just say that finding toilets was a major worry the next day!

:028: just returned from a week on Skye, unfortunately we had to go in the car.
Commando memorial is an incredibly emotional place to pay respects.
The roads after Dumbarton are brill, next visit is being organised for a 2 wheeled trip.
Skye roads are also great for bikes, although the condition of minor roads leave a lot to be desired.
We hired a cottage for 4 which was a great location to tour that island on.
And the views, oh the views, I do need to revisit.
Locals were very friendly. If you’re there, try the Croffters fish and chips near Bog Myrtle.
We usually stop at Pentland B&B when going up to Orkney, lovely cockney girl runs it, food is good with a few nice restaurants in Thurso, also had bad experience at the same place, as you say, not good on a bike with a twitchy loose buttock.
      :034:
Ride safe and stay hydrated and healthy all.
