    NT1100 DCT 2022 Wobbling

    Hi

Seeking experience, opinions and advice on NT that has deadly wobble around 80km/h.

Was touring up north in Finland and while driving with my friend who was driving Blackbird on my side, showed to him what happens if I took both hands off. Speed was roughly 80km/h, full bag set loaded, riding single.
Bike takes excessive wobbling that I don't dare to let continue more than 2 sec since it would definitely results in high sider and crash.

Once returned to home, took it to dealer, where I bought bike and left there for inspection.
After week got it back. Service said that there is major wobble as I described, rebalanced front wheel and said that it did not help.
I made official complain to Honda importer about this feature since it can result to crash. Official Honda importer did tests drive bike but claims that it hasn't got any wobble at all? :087: :020:
So I picked up my bike yesterday and on my way home did try to ride different speeds and I could not find this wobble anymore.
Now service says that they have only balanced front wheel (actually they have checked it, since none of the weights has been touched) and nothing else has been done.
Service also said that this is due to streering axle aligment that causes this issue and similar has been in CFR and CBR1000 earlier.
They say that official Honda argument is that you are not suppose to take both hands of while driving.
I said that I agree, but it does not take away this wobble issue.
After 3700km on the bike, bar end weights have lost black color since my gloves touch them and bike either shivers or wobbles so much that gloves has polished them.

Any way shorter version is, anyone of you NT owners have experienced similar wobble around 70-80km/h ?

I will test drive my bike with 3 bags and/or with passanger, without bags  and/or passanger and alone just to see wtf is this wobble and where it comes from. :084:

Back in 2020 local car union took Africa Twin for a test drive and they say in their article:
"However, if you take your hands off the handlebars and adjust the windshield at speed, the Honda's most dangerous feature appears at the same time: at about 70 speed, the steering wheel starts to vibrate strongly. The phenomenon does not occur as long as you keep both hands on the handlebars."

This phenomenon happened with all the Deauville NT700 with the Bridgestone tire that came from origin.  Look no further.  What brand and model does your bike come with?

Or an overloaded/fully loaded (rear).  Did you have full panniers, and (worse) a heavy topbox on ??

I'll check my what my oem tires are, can't recall.
Side panniers were of course quite full, top one had space and was not so heavy. But sill had stuff in it.

I had a similar issue but not at high speed. Went on a charity ride the other week and at the end the parking was in a field. When riding slowly on the grass the steering seemed to take on a mind of its own. Going straight the front wheel was going left and right on its own quite badly. Felt very weird. On the road though no issues. Handles perfectly.

Amazing, this Nt is the first bike I ride without any wobbling! at any speed , and thanks to the cruse control , for the first time after 40 years 20 bikes and more than a million kilometres , I can take off both hands up and relax on long road.
I check every day  the tyres pressure (3 bars front and rear) with two fobo2 TPMC / apps on the phone , and turned 30 rounds ont the rear shock, big Oem top case and sides case mostly full.
This bike just need a better rear shock, but ride straight with our without hands on the handle bar!

I'd have thought 3 bar in the front was rather high (that's about 44 psi)  :005:

On wet roads and rainy lands , 2,5 kg on front could be a wise choice, I’m driving on south of France , warm and dry , preferring a tougher contact.

Too much pressure equals a harder tire.  A hard tire equals less contact with the ground.  In rain, it multiplies the probabilities of losing grip very significantly.  Bad ideia.
